Performance:   Sonics:
Stockfisch Records keeps doing it. They remind me of Sheffield Labs. I will continue to order their SACDs until they disappoint, I hope that is a long-long time. They find singer-songwriters unknown in the U.S. who are perfect to listen to on a rainy afternoon or a quiet evening with a glass of wine. The accompanying musicians seem perfect. There is liberal use of reverb in the recording but it does not seem to subtract at all. It would be interesting to hear a track without reverb and the the same performance without it just to hear the difference. The upbeat songs like "Everybody" does not seem to be as agreeable to their process as do the slower tracks. Upbeat songs are the exception here. Mr. Roth has a very pleasant delivery and is a fine wordsmith. "Spacesuits" is a nice unaccompanied song which probably gives one a good idea of his live performances. Stockfisch, keep them coming, and I will do my part. When I have friends over, I will play them a Stockfisch release and the result is always a very pleasant surprise. Listen to one of their's and you will want to spread the word too.
