The Zimmermann Trio returns with a new recording devoted to Beethoven in which we can hear the String Trio Op.3 N°1 for Violin, Viola and Cello in E flat major, which “was at first to have been a quartet, in order to respond to a commission by the Count Apponyi: from that moment on, one can imagine that he set aside, in the balance of instrumental voices, the second violin,” tells us François-René Tranchefort. We also get to hear the String Trio N°2 Op.8 “Serenade” in D major. “Beethoven’s Serenades, apart their originality, could be considered minor works,” underlines Jean Witold in his work devoted to the German composer published by Hachette in 1961. In these small divertissements, Beethoven renews a tradition for which Mozart, before him, was a past master, and he does it not only by respecting the spirit of the serenade, but by serving it with delicacy, grace, elegance and fantasy.” And it is thus that the Zimmermann Trio (Frank Peter Zimmermann, violin; Antoine Tamestit, viola; Christian Poltéra, cello) restitutes it for us in a most accomplished musical discourse. Once again, inspiration dresses itself in emotion by offering a Beethoven SACD that is a reference.
