| I am a huge Skynyrd fan. Once this title was announced, I couldn't wait to get it...and I am pleased. Without a doubt the definitive version of this absolute classic album. Probably won't be regarded as an audiophile disc, however it is quite a delightful listen. I would say a little heavy on the mid-highs and light on the low bass. But there are little nuances that were not obvious on past releases. Like on Tuesday's Gone, the timbre of the symbols is really there. On Simple Man, you can detect the snares rattlin' under the snare drum. On Things Goin' On, the tambourine is simply magnificent. You can hear the room in every song. I liked the MCA Gold disc prior to owning this MFSL SACD...now there's noooo going back.

Lynyrd Skynyrd: Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd, Hybrid SACD, Stereo only.
I have lots of story's with Skynyrd but to be clear I have tried to be a Simple Man and failed and have mostly been a bar room drinker saying many times, "Wait a minuet mister, I didn't even kiss her, Gimme Three Steps. I have all the SACD Lynyrd Skynyrd discs and this band is pivitol in my youth. More later. My MOFI # 03227.
Quick Facts: There debut album, 1973, and the opening band for The Who's Quadrophenia tour, (I saw them Cow Palace, Nov 1973, that's another story). Produced by the famous Al Kooper.
Performance: Awesome, Southern Style. The biggest band in the USA at a point, whereas some people say the Led Zeppelin of the USA. You know all this.
Stereo Sonics: I have no problem listening loud at 76.5 decibels, HDMI outs, 88.2 Khz, PCM via external coax supplied McIntosh DAC. (Digital Analogue Convertor).
OK, the two reviews before me pretty much nailed it, Analogue with his always spot on reviews and Cordobaman, quoting "I would say a little heavy on the mid-highs and light on the low bass. But there are little nuances that were not obvious on past releases". This statement is true, also I will use from my stereophile glossary "Veiled" meaning "veiled, veiling Pertaining to a deficiency of detail and focus, due to moderate amounts of distortion, treble-range restriction, or attack rounding". On this disc it is the treble range restriction, that comes into play with the lack of bass. Also the sound stage is somewhat narrow. Forget all this BS, this is an awesome disc, and as an Audiophile everybody wants to be highly critical as if that, means you have good ears and are smart. So what! This disc is absolutely awesome and loud and toe tapping is as easy as cornbread and butter.
Packaging: Having had all previous versions the MOFI gives you a lot more than the original LP which was just a single album cover and sparse. This package is mini LP, cardboard gatefold, pictures, all lyrics, musician notes on each tune, mini paper booklet. cloth CD protector.
A Little Rant On MOFI: Being that my true love is multichannel I have become to hold MOFI in high respects. Having read and seen videos of there philosophy, I get it. They have a way, they get master tapes, they stay true to the original intent to the public in mass. They really do a great job when it is all said and done. I have been doing this long enough and with so many versions/formats, I respect the guys and gals that are sticking to there guns.
