...Why don`t you put some records on while I pour...........

Ray Charles and Betty Carter....well now I have 2 essential versions of this dear recording......the regular Redbook CD mastered by Steve Hoffman and this SACD version mastered by Kevin Gray and Zan Zanev. I have not been so excited about having ordered an album in a long long time as this is one of THE Ray albums to own.

...and a masterful job they have done! The music is rich and the tones are nice varied and offer deep speaker separation. Ray's vocals are really standout on this mix and are beautifully contrasted with those of the delicate and slightly smoke-filtered Betty Carter. Lots of great piano also on this mix which compliment the orchestration and the harmonic background singers.

`Baby...it`s Cold Outside and ``Ev`ry Time We Say Goodbye`` are absolutely 2 main reasons why you need to buy this SACD !

Oh yeah.....and an extra track added as well that was not listed on the back of the CD.....Hard Hearted Hannah

I even brought out my old Command Records Vinyl of The Ray Charles Singers !

I have not played the standard Redbook layer yet ....just can't passed the SACD mix right now to be honest.
