Performance:   Sonics:
This was one of my first SACD's and it's been a while since I played it, but SRV's music is timeless so no matter how long you have not listened to these albums there will always be a day when you feel the need to listen to them. And then they sound right at home. And boy, what an improvement over the RBCD ! The CD sounds OK, but the SACD smokes it in terms of depth, air, decay, bass, weight, detail retrieval and clarity. The music is vintage guitar, texas blues. Plus the SA-CD has five bonus tracks, including 'Hide Away' (some deep bass there ) and 'Look At Little Sister', and a short interview with SRV in which he introduces the Hide Away track. There is the beautiful ballad 'Tin Pan Alley' and of course Hendrix' 'Voodoo Chile' a 7+ minute tour de force.
