Double WOW!!! Can this be possible? For the second week in a row, the wizards at Analogue Productions have made me float 6 inches above the floor! I am about as jaded as most people in our time, but this SACD and the previous one, "The Very Thought of You," have completely made my Summer!

Again, having had this LP in its original incarnation on Capitol when I was a kid (new copies since then) and its succeeding releases on RBCD, I was delighted, with this disc playing wide open through my system, today. The performances are beautiful, subtle, lush, and EVERY nuance of the singer's velvety voice has been extracted from the tapes.

This disc also includes, on the STEREO section of the SACD layer, the MONO recording of "Love Letters", worth the hassle to reset your SACD player, just to hear the sonic restoration miracle that these magicians have realized. This particular cut is worth the price of the whole disc. It is arguably the best recording that gem of a song has ever had. Many are the hearts that have been filled and broken to this recording in jukeboxes across the USA.

It's funny, that this album, the NKC one that preceded it, and Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue", were the best make-out-and-snuggle LP's of their time, with a few Johnny Mathis discs thrown in. YES, I am showing my age, but this disc put me in a delicious time warp.

Again, I encourage anyone who loves these recordings to support this restoration effort. These recordings are THE SACD release of the year!

If you love the singing of the great balladeers of the USA, this disc is for you, and then, there are the luscious arrangements by Gordon Jenkins...

Nat King Cole had one of the sweetest voices in the world.....timeless and full of deep emotion. On "Love is the thing" Cole pretty much is singing and album of what it feels like to fall in love.

I picked up this SACD as soon as it was released and i am only now getting around to review this disc (life is busy). Well I must just say "WOW".........This may be one of the best sounding SACD's that I have in my collection ! Cole's voice is just so well defined and is in perfect balance mix with the Gordon Jenkins and his orchestra.

The album itself is deeply slow, melodic and emotional and every time I hear this album I just get that melancholy feeling.

AP present this treasured album in both Mono and Stereo so you can pick the one you prefer.

I love the mono mix personally.

This the the gold standard for SACDs. I have shared this with many people and they are all blown away. This was recorded in1956 and the sound is better than anything I have ever heard. Each song is the version of the song everyone thinks of except At Last and even this version gives Etta's some competition. I know this is not cheap but it is worth every penny and then some. If the house was burning down this would be on the short list of what I would have to grab.
