Tabula Rosa is another one of Kavi Alexander's great successes. I love these east meets west recordings and the blending of eastern and western influences is not as effective as on Bourbon and Rosewater but enjoyable none the less. The sonics are first rate it is just like the musicians are in your living room.

I like Bela Fleck--both his jazz and blue grass. This SACD was advertised as winning some sort of World Music award. Well, I'm not one for eastern style of music and I struggle listening to this, other than as background music. It's smooth and gentle, but just doesn't cut it with me. I'm sure that others love it. The ratings are personal to me. Others, probably those with broader musical taste than me, may give far better ratings. Some may think this is the best SACD ever--but not me.

What an extraordinary exploration of musical style! This disc truly blends of Eastern & Western music in a unique and extremely engaging way. I've never heard a Banjo played with so much elegance & reverence. It takes the instrument in a direction I never imagined possible. Similarly I've never heard the Ehru & Tabla played like this either. They have always had a somewhat improvisational character to them, but they really shine on this disc. It's like like an impromptu jazz journey with minimalist composers, Monk, Glass, & Miles Davis all summoned for the trip, but they've been given new instruments and south eastern scales. Way Cool! The recording is quality is outstanding as well. I can hear every click, twang, pop, & tap like they were sitting no more than a few feet away. My only complaint is the input level on the finished take is a bit low. I had to turn up my volume quite high to hear all the nuance the disc has to offer. Aside from that this is a near perfect gem!
