Although this SACD has made this Album sound better than ever, sadly it just isn't up to the standard of the rest of CCR's SACD Catalogue. Some noticeable tape noise and seems to have been recorded at really low db's. Some will find this endearing and may describe it as having a nice analog feeling. But if you prefer a clean sound and digital perfection, you may be a little disappointed; especially if you’ve heard the crystal-clear sonics of Analog Productions SACD re-issue of Pendlum or CCR's self-titled album.
If you are a fan of this album, rest assured that this is still worth the current $40 going E-bay rate, just adjust your expectations accordingly. And, as with all of the Creedence SACDs, volume brings out the magic that seems to get buried at lower db levels. Play this loud!

A good, solid stereo remaster: there is some tape hiss at the song intros, but overall the sound is crisp, clean and very punchy at the low end. The hi-res transfer even allows the listener to discern that "Proud Mary" is actually a very narrow stereo mix, rather than mono. A big improvement over the RBCD.
Musically, this isn't up to the same standard as Willy & the Poor Boys or Cosmo's Factory, with only PM and "Born On The Bayou" being absolute classics (and therefore essential), but "Bootleg" and "Keep On Choolglin'" do have a certain catchy groove. The Little Richard cover is OK but doesn't outstrip the original, while the other cuts are fair to middling, IMHO.

| One of the definitive rock albums, with sonics presented probably as well as can be. Lots more air and treble than the RBCD, but not as bright as the latest remaster. Born on the Bayou should be required listening for every aspiring guitar player--every note is perfectly placed. The chugging beat sweeps you into a place Fogerty wants you to go--you can't resist. And when music is this much fun and sounds this good, why should you try?
