At first I have to say that I am not expert on the repertoire, so although IMHO it is really beautifully played, I will focus on the stereo and multi-channel sound quality.

Viola da gamba has very rich sound in terms of color spectrum and micro-dynamic structure. It is extremely difficult to capture one's essence. Usually it sounds on the records as computer generated signal. But the sound of viola da gamba on this record is truly amazing.

On the multi-channel, there is constant palpability, air-breathing and in the pauses the totally dark background with just player moving on the chair or breath in. In this case DSD along with perfect placement of microphones definitely brings benefit of feel the whole instrument and recording hall itself. Binaural recording is as impressive as multi-channel. It is definitely the most advanced recording I have ever heard. This is absolute MUST for anybody with diagnose "Audiophilia Nervosa".
