Performance:   Sonics:
Well.An interesting selection of Bruchs works which would normally be a nice addition to the more popular Violin concerto. However the first few seconds of playing of these fairly expensive discs will probably make your heart sink.I had saved this set till last from my recent order and the sound was by far the poorest of 16 discs.Bruchs symphonies are akin to Schummans and similairly require a deft touch for the pleasant melodies to flow and breathe.Im not sure how much the conducter or orchestra contribute to the failing of this otherwise excellent music but I suspect the recording and mastering engineers should take a very long vacation.Or words to that effect. Its the 3 symphonies that suffer most.A combination of slight graininess, slight hardness, compression and distorted climaxes in what could be a reverberant cramped accoustic and you get the picture.or in this case struggle to get it..Some wont find this too bad as im not sure what the surround is like..Suprisingly the violin works are ok.Still just hinting at the problems in the louder passages. The lighter Swedish Dances are also a let down.I have several better Cds thatn this.(all of them)especially the very important string tone.If it was try before you buy these definitly would have gone back.Im guessing a 3star for performance..
