Performance:   Sonics:
This is just the kind of follow-up to Ray Brown's immensely popular Soular Energy that I would have hoped for, but it's even more than that, it's one of the better performances that Gene Harris has had documented on record that I know of.

Sure, Ray Brown is the headliner here, but as on Soular Energy, it's Harris' intensity that makes this recording one that I will play over and over again. And, unlike Soular Energy, there isn't a single track that I'll skip over as I'm listening to it -- they're all terrific! If there is one tune that sticks out, it's the absolutely uncanny arrangement of Antonio Carlos Jobim's Meditation that does.

Sound quality is excellent, and, frankly, one of the better sounding Concord Jazz releases in my collection. Don't miss this one if you like great jazz played in a live setting.
