Lester Young is one of my favorite Saxophone players. It is not always easy to find him on a decent sounding recording as most of them are pretty old. This SA-CD is probably as good as it gets on the silver disc. This is a mono recording from 1956. The sound hangs nicely in between the speakers (wish I had a mono button on my pre though) but it's indeed "old sound" as DeSelby remarks here as well. It's just great sounding old sound. Lester Young swings and can always relied upon to play the melody lines with a fluid and decisive sound. He is accompanied on these sessions by Gene Ramey (b), Teddy Wilson (p) and Jo Jones (dr). If you want your jazz to swing, buy this disc.
