Performance:   Sonics:
This is my 4th Chandos SACD purchase in as many weeks, and very good it is.
Good music very well recorded in a natural acoustic. If you are looking for a recording with all the tone colours of a traditonal symphonic orchestra, this is the one.Britten´s The Prince of the Pagodas is probably his "sunniest" score. But that is not all, on top of excellently recorded classical western instruments, you also get the very colourful sounds made by the Balinese Gamelan orchestra!!
In some quarters Chandos´s recordings have been blamed for too much reverb, but my advise to those complaining ,is go and listen to some live music for a change! This recording and most others I´ve heard from Chandos, is very good replica of what live music sounds like in a good venue !!!
Strongly recommended!!!
