This was the first concord jazz sacd I ever bought. But it was not the last. Essentially this small collection of all concord sacd's is newer jazz music recorded between 1974 until 1994. Like most music company's Concord has a certain "house" style that features very organic and naturalistic recordings. They get the best musicians together to create terrific music.
This sacd sounds very analogue in feel...........kind of like a vinyl record. What I love about this album, aside from the great musicianship and guitar interplay is the feeling of an live outdoor concert. You can really feel the crowd.
The sound is very lifelike and naturalistic. It's also warm with a good sound stage. The performances, especially if you like jazz guitar is terrific. Instruments and their placement is easily noticeable.
Highly recommended. As Concord does not release any more sacd's and there is only a small batch to be had I would ask you to give their collection a chance.
There is some great jazz to be heard with amazing sound quality.

Good fun, great sound and "fine guitar interplay" - as emphasized by the announcer during the intro of this live gig at the Concord Live Festival in California, 1973. These are all jazz standards, from the swinging 'In A Mellow Tone', to the tuneful Joe Pass solo effort on 'Prelude To A Kiss' and the artful race through 'Seven, Come Eleven'. Jake Hanna on drums swings as he always does (I like his relaxed and flowing style - he's 'loose') and Ray Brown needs no further intro. Every track has something, from swing to speed, to improvisation and soulfull ballads. I think this set has all the right ingredients for a classic and classy album.
The sound is very 'analog' and spacious. At barely 40 minutes it's too short, yes, but there are shorter SA-CD's and this one is worth every Penny/Dollar/Euro.

| Interesting and highly enjoyable jazz guitar duo joined by bass and drums. Live gig. Good sound. Rear channels in MCH dedicated to ambience, echo, reverb, audience and not much else. Guitar jazz in a similar style of Barney Kessel, Kenny Burrell, Wes Montgomery. Short running time.
