Performance:   Sonics:
This Chandos SACD, is yet another example of their natural recordings, and as usual, the difference between the RBCD layer and the SACD layer, is obvious. The SACD is simply more natural, more atmospheric and real than the already quite good RBCD version, with good string tone and a wonderful feeling of listening to a good orchestra playing wonderful symphonic music in a believable acoustic, without obvious spotlighting of detail that so many other labels do these days. Chandos have almost always, had the good sense of putting their mikes far away enough, to capture both the venue and the natural harmonics of individual instruments. The original recording like most other SACDs from Chandos, was made in 24/96 PCM resolution .I have so far only listened to it in stereo ,so I can´t really comment on the MCH version more than that it sounds good when heard via the front channels only, over headphones. Recommended.
