You have to hear this in SACD! Listen to track 6: Lay Lady Lay. The drum is so clear over the standard CD. It just jumps out at you. You can hear the rhythm of it so better. I can not recommend this SACD enough.

I've purchased three of the Dylan SACDs so far. They are "Bringing It All Back Home", "Planet Waves", and "Nashville Skyline". This record, by far, has been the sonic winner in the SACD format. It is wonderfully lush and warm. The balance is perfect. I can't say enough about this one. Obviously, the content is fantastic, too. Not on a level with Bob's greatest records, but not far behind. Enjoy!

I've seven or so of the Dylan SACD reissues. This one is fun and a bit lighthearted, in toto, than most of the others. Still great Dylan. Wish the backup band were stronger although that might have been an artistic decision.

As to sound, it is pretty good, at least in stereo SACD and CD. I don't have a sonic memory of any other version so can't go on about the Japanese LP vs the RBCD vs the gold plated CD, etc. However, I think is not as "audiophilic" as "Blood on the Tracks," for instance. I rated the latter as 4 stars so have to give this one no more than 3 and a half although to some that might seem to say I was unhappy with the sound - I wasn't. Great sound doesn't always add that much to the impact and appreciation of a record. Bad sound detracts and this record does not have bad sound.
