Your memory is much better than mine. Personally I'm a big fan of Marantz products. Most people who buy them seem to like them. Though I don't think they have fully caught up to where people are today as Sony have with their HAP-Z1ES (probably not something I'd buy having already cobbled together my own solution).

In short, I'm a friend of Ken ; am friendly, sharing my studies and thoughts, with the people here...

And SA-CD.net needn't 'catch up to where Users are today' in downloads and streaming because, no doubt, 'disc releases' keep you, the administration, busy enough cataloging...

Well, let's give emphasis to physical disc playback ?

Investigating the SA8005 and the 'higher-end' SA-14S1, I'd recommend them for primarily being able to play discs and, secondarily, as DACs for computers holding DSD files...

The NA-11S1 and HAP-Z1ES are network products without disc... Ripping SA-CDs is not... But, of stereo, Blu-ray Audio and RBCDs has LPCM...

As this Thread began... Today, we can potentially have "SA-CDs from early PCM sources" :)

Yet, "a format that your system can play well, namely DSD" ?

For me, I've invested into 'analogue' separates... Luckily, Marantz too invests in refining their analogue expertise (throughout our digital present...

Am I luckier that I trust in Ken, recalling http://marantz7001zi.blogspot.co.nz/ interview of his strategic acumen, researching mainly products he 'believes in' for releasing ? Perhaps.

Firstly, thanks zeus and Polly Nomial for your open-mindedness—on behalf of everyone who's Posting of playback developments beyond...

Have just noticed the Marantz HD-DAC1 above being introduced...

A better 1,296x864 photo http://www.hdfever.fr/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/MG_2100.jpg is from French http://www.hdfever.fr/2014/05/20/marantz-hd-dac1/ :
aperçu au High END 2014, une version plus moderne du DAC-1 avec gestion du DSD, contrôle du volume, sortie casque de qualité pouvant gérer une impédance jusqu’à 600 Ohms, et surtout, quelque chose que je pense très utile, l’intégration de deux horloges dont je vous explique l’intérêt dans l’article...

Translation in English :
"Seen at the High End 2014, here's a more modern version of the DAC-1 handling DSD, volume control, a quality headphones output managing up to 600 ohms impedance, and most of all, something which I think to be very useful, two internal clocks whose interest will be developped in the article [...]"

Facebook's Marantz Europe just announced release of PM7005 with USB-B DSD support (2.8MHz/5.6MHz) :

Personally, I'm glad that Marantz have started to incorporate DACs (DSD capable) into traditional stereo integrated amps.

Also, see SR5009 :

Now, if it is Integrated PM-7 series with a built in DSD DAC, weights about 100kg each, then we are talking.

What you get is still highly dependent on the source, driver software, cable and receiving end.
