So is it time to seriously (please) reconsider allowing on SA-CD.net the sale of surplus discs of members to other members at fair prices, as a service to new members and not as a source of inflated profits for others.

Before you rush to the 'No' answer do others support this proposal

I would not have expected you to support me so no surprise there...

Most of our long term members probably have discs that are now "surplus to requirements" as newer and better recordings have supplanted those purchased when the technology was new and choices limited. I routinely donate mine to the local library among whose patrons, I hope, are some who may be stimulated to find out what this sacd thing is, and invest the few bucks it takes to buy an entry level player thereby making another convert. It's probably a vain hope, but that's the path I've decided to take.

While I have no personal interest in the suggestion I also have no objection if "management" (old and/or new) were so disposed, though I think a couple of caveats might be in order: no sale or swaps of recordings still available at normal market price to avoid costing labels and vendors sales, though how this would be policed is anyone's guess; a separate dedicated section of the site would be created for the purpose to avoid clogging up the forum with "for sale" and "wanted" threads.

.......

Somewhat OT to thread.

My experience was the other way round.

5 years ago I bought a new "top quality" DVD player and a few months later I noticed it could also play SA-CD. I then bought a couple of titles and was quite impressed. I still have that player and a lot more SA-CD as a result.

It works both ways so it's not a vain hope.

My 2p. : )

Now back to thread topic.

If you live in place where many SACD owners, you can start a SACD club which require min 10 SACD to join in. Club member can exchange SACD with no profit and money exchange.

You could always post what you have that you're willing to trade/sell in an Amazon wish list, and then have another list of discs that you're hoping to obtain. Then post the URLs to your lists in a thread.

Great idea that could work
