Does anyone know why my sacd's that used to play(Light) in sacd, have stopped playing in the sacd layer.

The discs are Bob Dylan Highway 61.., Rolling Stones Beggars and Let it Bleed,
Pink Floyd Dark side(Played 2 days ago in sacd, yesterday it did not).

Peter Gabriel Plays live still works.

Any ideas?

It may be that the self-adjustment of the laser needs switching on; try turning the machine completely off with an SACD inside, then switching on. That may trigger the self-adjustment. Just a guess - experts, please let me know if I'm talking nonsense!

What model is the Sony player? I have means of calibrating the transport if its an XB940.

I had 3 copies of Aerosmith - Oh Yeah, including one from the record company and they would all skip randomly on my old XE670 (or whatever it was called). I put it down to the constant high levels over driving something, particularly as it would only happen after a few minutes play. All other SACDs, including my whole Rolling Stones box set played fine. Pioneer player - no problem.

Hi, I have this SACD player, which shows some of the problems mentioned. Would you mind sharing the calibration method?
Thanks.

I have a Sony DVP 9000 ES and noticed that it skipped a lot on disc 2 of the new Julia Fischer unaccompanied Bach set. I thought the disc was defective but then it played perfectly later.

Yesterday I opened the Pentatone recording of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra playing music by Britten, Bartok and Hartmann. I loaded it and noted it took a little longer to display the number of bands and total playing time.

Then when I push 'PLAY' ,the display flashes C 13 00 and there is no sound.

The CD layer plays OK.

My new Wagner disc Kreizburg also on Pentatone plays perfectly, as do rented DVDs my wife just brought home.

Any idea what is going on and what I can do about it?

Thanks,

Bad news I'm afraid. Your laser is going out
