Dear Polly Nomial,
Have you heard any other recordings of these early symphonies? You don´t mention any. How about Adam Fischer on Dacapo, a series that outshines the Marriner set in all respects, IMO.

These early Mozart symphonies are of questionable musical value, in my view. Some of them don't have proper K numbers, because they are probably not written by Mozart anyway.
Re: The Adam Fischer recordings on Da Capo ... these are not hi-res stereo ... or at least not the ones I purchased which sounded much like CDs. You can check the Da Capo web site which states the best resolutions available, and if it maxes out at 44.1 kHz ... well, you know how it started life.

Yes - but not the Fischer. Will seek it out for a listen. Presumably AF's is period?

Well, it is sort of period style. Very convincing and filled with love for the music. And whether it is hi-res or not I couldn´t care less. So fed up with that nonsense.
But I can´t find Symphony No 17 KV 129 on the Marriner discs. It was present in the LP-box. A little gem with an Andante of great beauty.
