There's a new rave review on this here: http://audaud.com/2012/08/berlioz-symphonie-fantastique-overture-to-beatrice-benedict-scottish-ch-orch-robin-ticciati-linn/. Frankly the review doesn't add anything to Polly's from an informational standpoint, but it reflects my own reaction so well that I thought I'd post the link.

After reading these reviews, I really, really wanted to like this recording...but I don't.

I have listened to it over and over hoping that over time it would grow on me. It has not.

This performance sounds "malnourished." It's a skeletal rather than a fleshed- out reading...the inevitable consequence of the small forces employed (a chamber orchestra).

I found myself often straining with this recording...straining to hear familiar detail in the score...straining to enjoy this interpretation. I am not sure what all the fuss is about.

I greatly prefer the two SACD recordings of Colin Davis (out on Pentatone and Universal-Japan SHM) as well the redbook recordings of Myun Wun Chung, Leonard Bernstein (with the Paris Orchestra) and Roger Norrington (1st recording on period instruments with the London Classical Players).
