I have a problem with it because during all playing the disc, frequently is
possible to listen some swishes or noises that is clear to listen to when
there are quite titles, like the "Moonlight" sonata's first. Pentatone staff upon request has found the "problem" in my SACD player, but I have no problem with other piano recordings from different labels at all.

Could it be her breathing?

Could you describe the sounds in more detail? I didn't hear anything unnormal when I listened to it.

Pedalling? There is quite a bit of this in the first movement of the Moonlight.

Didn't hear something unusual on this SACD.

I must add the three first releases of M. Kodama has a fantastic piano sound, warm with the ideal reverberation, a dream of DSD.

I like a lot how Kodama plays Beethoven, with (for me) the correct tempo, a wonderful piano touch and the score only the score ! It is my prefered sonatas cycle actually.

For sure, I'll buy all other releases.

Yes, this would be my guess, though I don't have this SACD.

Are we talking about the same disc? The "Moonlight" sonata is not on this disc. I've listened carefully to the "quiet" passages in "Les adieux" and I don't hear anything that's non-musical. Ramesh's pedalling suggestion is quite likely as it is occasionally identifiable as a distinct artifact. Another outside possibility is the somewhat reverberant church acoustic which is more pronounced than I remembered.

I have this disc and her two other Beethoven Sonata SACD's.

The SACD layer on this one has drop-outs/skips all over the place (redbook is fine). The other two discs (SACD layers) play fine on my player.

I love this disc, but am worried that if I get a replacement, I'll have similar problems.

Any theories?

Did I just get a bad "pressing"?

Thanks,

Steve O.

I don´t have any problems with this disc. I think the playing and the sound are both magnificent.
