I do notice Dorati's Brahms symphonies were not in this compilation. Anyway my favorite is Bryon Janis's Liszt Concertos with the Moscow Philharmonic. I was hoping then it would be released on SACD. Anyway I believe this is a limited release set. Buy it now lest you regret later.

Given how Universal seems to releases a new 50 disc box set for $100 every month, I wonder if this is a run-up to licensing huge chunks of their catalogue to budget labels like Brilliant.

The Dorati Brahms symphonies were recently licensed to Newton. 12 bucks for the set from an Amazon seller. Same Mercury updatings. And yes, I used the SA-CD.net link when I got mine.

So some of these cds are SACD?

There are no SACDs in the box set.

Just saw that Volume 2 of 55 CDs will be released (per amazon.co.uk) in April. And that the price gougers are already asking for over 400 dollars for the original box set (which I bought for 100 dollars or so) on amazon.com. Just lovely ...

Anyway, can't wait to see what's going to be in this box set. That will take it to more than 100 MLP CDs - how many, in total were released (will there be enough for a Box 3 as well eventually?)

I think there were 125 titles (134 discs) released of which 20 were eventually redone as SACDs.

The second box includes the Dorati 1953 mono Rite of Spring and Corigliano's Piano Concerto which haven't been out before.

Thanks - so, putting on my third grade math hat, then the third box set should include the remainder plus the sacds :) Well, maybe not! Though I have many MLPs anyway, I'm already down for box set 2. I read somewhere too that the Everest label recordings will also be re-released soon - any info on that?

I just read that the first box set has been reissued... So much for the crazy prices folks were advertising it for until recently ...
