So released today.
But, everywhere I look it is out of stock.
What is going on?

I wonder if the release date was changed and retailers just didn't update it. Notice how it's still unlisted by UK retailers.

I had pre ordered it from Amazon UK. Received an email from them this morning to say that 'Our supplier has informed us that this item is no longer available'. What, indeed, is going on?

We had some problems in the factory with Meistersinger since we are using a new (so far untested) packaging. The item has now arrived in the warehouse and can be ordered from the PentaTone website. In most countries it will be a December or January release. In the US it should become available later this month.

Best, PentaMan

Thanks for the update! Looking forward to it.

I got my copy the other day (from a a third party sell on the Amazon market place).

Initial impression is that Janowski brings a laser like focus and transparency to the score without coming across as as sounding like micromanagement.

I find the male voices to be a tad light, but that seems to fit with Janowski's unified conception of the sound.

So far I'm enjoying it, but I don't expect it will rival my favorite recording: Karajan stereo.

Predictably, the surround sound quality is excellent -- spacious, clean and creamy (levels must be set high for proper enjoyment). There are a few errant noises from the audience and at least one from the stage -- the risks of live recordings. While I don't see any technical information about the recording in the notes, Pentatone's website indicates that it is a DSD recording.

Is anybody else having trouble accessing the SACD stereo layer on these discs? My player, a Marantz SA8003, struggles with all of them. With the first disc in particular, you have to open and close the tray continuously for about ten mins before it recognises the SACD layer. I've never had this trouble with any other SACDs, not even the Flying Dutchman in the same series.

No problems this end with the discs. Normally listen in multi channel but tried the SACD stereo layer on my Arcam CD37 and it correctly recognised and played it as SACD.

Thanks Padraig. I contacted PenaTone, and they think it is my player, which is frustrating. Anyway, here's my review:
