Just for the record this CSO Resound recording is PCM, 88.2kHz/24bit a regression from this label's usual DSD. Shame! Another nail... ?

This recording doesn't do it for me at all. Poor selection of tunes and a poor recording.

The notes suggest that the rationale for the disc is that the CSO is reknowned for its brass sound more than any other facet. Fair enough, which explains why we don't get a full blown orchestral masterpiece this time around.

Trouble is PCM can't do brass! Where's the rasp and the decay and the timbre and the... it's brass Jim but not as we hear it!

Hostage to fortune? Well, somebody's got to be the straight man.

I thought this disc rather good for both repertoire and recording.
