i very much enjoyed Angela Hewitt's new recording of Bach keyboard concertos. besides her and the australian chamber orchestra the SA-CD introduced a new star that i hadn't heard on records yet, the Fazioli concert grand. i had heard about this fantastic instrument before and got a small impression of one at a local music store.to my surprise the recording did manage to bring over at least something of the truely special sound of the instrument. i am now looking for other recordings, preferably solo but also concerts on a Fazioli. any sugestions ?

Try the local distributor; they'll know of any concerts within easy reach.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Hewitt's Chopin Nocturnes on SACD is played on the Fazioli. In any case, the piano has a very beautiful sound on this recording.

Should anyone else also be interested, i just found all the info on Fazioli's site www.fazioli.com It's beautifully made, gives an interesting virtual tour showing the way of a piano from the forest (the same one Stradivari and other masters got their wood from) to the finished product. Information on performances and recordings (Hewitt's Bach concertos are mentioned but not the Chopin) is given as well. The company's dedication goes so far as having built their own concert hall for pianists to choose their instrument in a concert acoustic.
the site is in italian and english.

This recording is made on a Faziola grand piano, and the music brings out many of the fantastic sounds that can be produced on this instrument. It is on Caro Mitis; pure DSD stereo and surround recording.

Alfred Schnittke
Complete Piano Sonatas
IGOR TCHETUEV (Fazioli grand piano No. 228091)
CM 0092004

I am looking forward to find out what reactions there will be.

Off topic, I know, but anyone visiting London who loves pianos may enjoy a visit to the Steinway showrooms. Very impressive. So is the Fazioli website.

Hello Groot Geluid

i have very much enjoyed your recordings on many different labels (hope lots of it will come to SA-CD). Since i came to know that all of the Caro Mitis recordings are made by Polyhymnia i continiously look out for them in record stores. I haven't found one recording yet. Is there any way to buy these recordings besides internet (i dont like to give a credit card number over the www)Is there a distributor for switzerland ?

besides that:
on a Pilips mid price remaster of an analog recording i read "digital conversion by bitstream". What's that, something similar to DSD ?

and what about the "Jaap de Joong vacuum tube equipment" mentioned on some Philips recordings. Is it a predecessor to what you use at Polyhymnia or do you still use it today ?

Will they get kicked out, if they dont play the piano and/or dont have the intention to buy one ?
