Peter, Nucaleena Hi

Thanks for pointing this out.

Yep, in retrospect I was too hasty, and these appear to be completely separate sets, albeit from the same label.

I had - incorrectly it appears - assumed that the Dausgaard recordings were new; this is because I couldn't find any mention of them on Amazon (UK and US).

Hence my displeasure at seeing them released on RBCD.

So I ended up adding 2 and 2 to get 4.5. Doh... just shows how strongly I feel about Nielsen on SACD, I suppose.

I have now sent a nice schmoozy email to DaCapo.

Cheers

Jon

I think your action was fully justified. Just by publicising the set on SA-CD.net the inference is that all discs in the box are SACD. I too am disappointed but grateful to forum members for flushing this out.

LSO Live specifically did not mislead when releasing their Sibelius box set a couple of years ago when they acknowledged that the set contained one RBCD of the 3rd & 6th - later re-mastered as a SACD from the original DSD recording.

Have just removed the offending item from my wish list and suggest Zeus takes it off.

Thanks. I see your point, of course. Only one item here is an SACD- and that has appeared before. So, yes, I was a bit annoyed when this became apparent. I agree that, perhaps, it therefore could be removed to avoid confusion in future.

But I'm glad we got to the bottom of this, collectively.

Let's not forget that there was also a BIS/Vanska Nielsen symphonies set, regretfully on RBCD only.

Poor old Nielsen- he hasn't been too lucky on SACD, has he? At least his symphonies...*

Let's hope the Gilbert/NYPO set on DaCapo resolves this in due course.

* And let's just forget the LSO/Davis, shall we?

And BIS also produced another excellent RBCD set, with the Gothenburg and Chung for 1-3& 5 and Jarvi for 4 & 6. Splendid sound too. So come on bissie, we know you can do it.

Leif Segerstam would be an excellent choice as conductor.

Amen to that, twice. The Chung/Jarvi set was, indeed, excellent - I have it. Plus a stonkin' Aladdin (the first time I had heard it) and concertos. The only reason I didn't mention it here was because of its age and consequent early digital format. But it sounded miraculous for 16 bit...

So, time for a modern SACD-oriented set of Nielsen symphonies, Bissie?

Any news on Prokofiev, by the way?

Well....... you are already getting one from New York. Do you think the market can bear three new cycles? (I know your opinions of the LSO Live recordings - I don't share them.) BIS already has two complete cycles - would you have three in one catalogue, Robert?

At the present time, hardly likely.

OK, it's a fair cop... if you put it that way!

For a set to be listed on this site, one or more discs have to be an SA-CD. The contents are noted, appropriately enough, in the Note field of the title entry. It's beholden on anybody interested to consult this page before ordering. The title entry also contains a link to the label's web site where full information is (generally) available.

Hello there from a mere amateur!

I don't(shock horror) have SACD equipment.
Da Capo says (On it's website) that disc 4 of this set is a SACD disc.
Amazon lists it as a Hybrid SACD~
Which is it?
Obviously if it is not a Hybrid I shan't be able to buy the set(shame).
Can anyone help me.
Many Thanks,
Gordon.
