I see that this recording has diametrically opposed opinions--mine is somewhere in between. It does make me wonder why no top notch label/ensemble has recorded the entire set of these popular concerti. Is there any hope that BIS, Channel Classics, or Pentatone will fill the void? (I have Pentatone's "sampler"--it's wonderful--I wish they would record the entire Op.6.)

I enjoy this set and as I see Canonical has some kind of grudge to bear every time a non-DSD recording comes up.

Who said this is a non-DSD recording? The recording resolution is unstated.
P.S. I would have said my guess is 44.1 kHz 16 bit, but that would be a bit unfair to CD, as most CDs sound less digital than this.
Maybe it was recorded on a miniDV camcorder at 32kHz?

Thanks for the review canonical, this says it all "the sound is completely 'digital' - harsh and grainy. Awful." If Flyingdutchman would bother to look in your library he would see many SACDs from PCM masters so I KNOW you have no grudge.
