It will be less expensive when in regular release, but what the heck. I ordered one too. They also claim to have shipped mine.

Only this one is postponed. We also have replaced Parsifal (November) by Meistersinger. A new album by the Oregon Symphony and a new solo album by Nareh Arghamanyan (a new PentaTone pianist)will be added shortly

Best, Pentaman

This should be a very interesting release. From the Symphony website it looks like it might include the RVW #4

Good call to replace the Parsifal with Meistersinger. We are about to have two competing SACD versions of Parsifal, yet no Meistersinger. Hopefully Tristan will be next (looks like Dutchman first, Meistersinger and then?)

The release by the Oregon Symphony is intriguing - I also checked out the orchestra's web sites, and the reviews of the Carnegie Hall concert (which seem to have formed the basis of this recording?) were extremely positive.

It does. The horse's mouth (little birdie?) said that it's a stunning performance and recording.

The archived livecast of their Carnegie performance of the same program is up on NPR Music (http://www.npr.org/2011/05/13/136214266/the-oregon-symphonys-intimations-of-conflict-at-carnegie-hall)

The CD recording was made a few days prior in their home concert hall in Portland, OR (Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall).

Looking forward to the release!

Just received the Scheherazed SACD, the yet to be released Pentatone, available here through amazon.com partner, CMS. I like it! Ponti's tempo is sometimes slower than I'm accustomed to, particularly in the Capriccio, but there's lots of emotion. The MCH sound is textbook ITU alignment, beautifully detailed and spacious, and good impact. If you like other Pentatone RNO SACD's recorded at DZZ Studio 5, you'll like this. The cover art is different the that pictured above, but the graphics identical. Highly recommended!

Tom

BTW, it you're anxious to receive this, I'd suggest checking out CMS expedited shipment. It took two weeks in First Class mail to receive this in MA from TN.

Great link Dan! I found out yesterday that this recording is on a fast track for release. I told the guys at Soundmiror I wanted Transportation Captain credits on the album :)

Look forward to it, but, you know, this Scheherazade is pretty good, too:
