That explains a lot. Your posting patterns reflect a rather peculiar schedule for a fellow New Yorker...

My SACDs, DVD~As and Blu~Rays are the children of the night..........Yes, Amaldo, I have switched my days and nights around. I find I get so much more accomplished at night into the wee hours.......

I agree all forms of music benefit from SACD. The UMG Salif Keita Album, Moffou, is brilliant, not only for the sound quality but also the use of surround sound. For me the quality of the sound is important, but my ultimate reason for supporting SACD is its surround sound capability as well as its CD compatibility. That is why it is really disappointing I think to see UMG Japan releasing only stereo SACDs and Sony's entry SACD player in the UK being stereo only, not multi-channel. They are all missing a market out there and that is the appeal of SACD it can appeal to so many different markets, but that fact seems to elude the managers in these companies that make the decisions. It would be nice to see a few more SACD releases from Sony Music as well to support the format. Sony doesn't seem to do joined up thinking that well.

That's why Sony joined Analogue Productions for future projects, I guess?

Jonathan Livingston Seagull,
i have a lot of memories of my father playing that record on the turntable, it brings back a lot of my past. My father died one year ago, I missed him a lot and felt bad, til i got a turntable and played that record again 3 months ago. I even purchased the movie.

it would be great to hear it on SACD and in 5.1, great music and a great motivational movie.

So, 3 years have passed. With all the SACDs coming out from MFSL and Hoffman, can we expect to see some Neil Diamond?

Instead of talking about it, email MoFi and AF with your request. AF, especially, is welcoming requests from their customers.

But agree: shocking that there is NO Neil Diamond on SACD. A sacrilege!

It's called drawing attention to the issue. You want more voices emailing, not just one person.

I will email AF with a request for Neil Diamond and some more multichannel requests, as well.

MoFi is on their own roll reissuing what has already been previously issued on SACD and DVD~A (The DEAD albums, i.e.).

Perhaps, Universal will issue a BD~A chock full of Diamond's repertoire much like the recent Sam Cooke BD~A.

Wonder what kind of shape the Diamond masters are in?

BTW, just checked CDJapan's database for Neil Diamond and not a one has been reissued on SHM~CD. I suppose he isn't popular over in Japan.

IMO only classical music benefits from SACD. with voice like neil diamonds you could never tell if you were listening to RBCD or SACD

That's just an utterly silly statement. I don't own any classical SACD titles, but do have a number of Soundtracks ( MC ) and although very enjoyable, they are quite subdued, compared to Rock & Pop titles I have.

I forgot, I do own one classical disc ( from the 2L label ) which is sonically impressive, although I don't play it much, because I'm just not really into classical music. ( other than what is well known. )

I can't really say that I hear much of Neil's music over here...Billy Joel perhaps, but... The Beatles pretty much have the market cornered here, so to speak. The frequency with which their music is covered over here is mind boggling...NUMBING!! I just went to Karaoke a couple of weeks ago. I thought for sure I could get a reaction with Satisfaction, but it fell flat like a piece of old sushi. No one knew it. I was devastated. LOL!! ;-)

No seriously, I am sure there are some members of society who were into Neil's music back in the day. I'll have to ask around. I did hear Sweet Caroline when Caroline Kennedy became the US ambassador here.
