Excellent! Another Golden Oldie from those inspired madmen of Madrid. My wife and I have long enjoyed spinning the CD version of this century-spanning Theme and Variations... apparently european civilisation was fond of the tune too. This disc is much more straightforward than their utterly-unhinged La Folia de la Spagna - Gregorio Paniagua, but still a study in fun.

Thank you Bissie!

"Well, you'll be getting "La Spagna", direct from Analogue -> DSD (BIS-SACD-1963) soonish. 86+ minutes, but Stereo only (the CD layer is one track short and only 82 minutes).

One of The Absolute Sound's Super Discs, and has been for almost 30 years."

Looks yum. Just curious ... noticed that the CD original version of 1986 is listed as 71 minutes:

Just wondering what makes up the difference from 71 min to 86 min?

The hitherto not digitally released rest from the double LP (too much for one CD - too short for a double CD).

I will definitely get this disc. So far I enjoy the sound quality and also the content. I am trying to spread the word to my friends as well (to me, it is newly found treasure).

Me got this disc today. Great vintage analogue sound and music. Can you imagine, I discover this piece of gem only through this forum discussion! Hope BIS continues to release more of such historic gems.

Good to know that the disc is out already! Robert, do you know if it will be available as a download on e-classical soon? I'm assuming that the sound quality in stereo will be improved over the previous RBCD release, which I already own but can (hopefully) replace with this new one.

It should come out presently on eclassical.com, and here we have one great advantage of the per-second-pricing system, since there are so many tracks.
The 24-bit version should be much better than the 16, but the 16 should be pretty much the same as the RBCD.

Robert, I have owned this coveted treasure on RBCD for years and hope this signals other reissues from the BIS vaults!

Will be a pleasure to own it on SACD, finally!
