I'd be interested in other people's reaction to this recording in m/c. The main speaker Julian Glover seems to be balanced at the rear, a photograph in the extensive booklet seems to confirm this. But he seems at a very low level, much lower than the other speakers. My rear speakers are not the same make as my front ones, indeed the front ones are Quad ESL-63s whereas the rear are conventional coil speakers but I've tried balancing the relative levels using my amp. Experimenting with the phase of the rear speakers doesn't seem to alter the effect. The basic recording is superb but this disparity puzzles me...
