OK, finally a "mainstream" release of the Rach Cello Sonata, far more inspired than his 2nd piano concerto; it's that good. I've been thinking of springing for Lyrinx but it's pretty expensive here in US.
I hope the artists don't "fiddle" with the piece too much in an effort to be "revelatory," which seem to be the norm these days, (that or bleaching the paint right off a piece in an effort to be fresh).
The first and third mov'ts are to die for.

A none musical/SACD remark, but...:
To everyone in a position to decide upon album covers. Stop using these silly one eye/half the face cut out pictures. They are absolutely dreadful and a complete put off for me !

Looks great! What is the release date? Also, Sudbin has had a Chopin/Ravel recital in the works for a while...I wonder when it is coming out?

My benchmark performance of the cello sonata is a live recording of the slow movement recorded some thirty years ago in a Carnegie Hall concert by Vladimir Horowitz and Rostropovich, despite rude, noisy and impatient audience the performance is a thing of beauty, hope Sudbin and friend match the beauty of this performance.

Thanks for noticing. This is done without any permission from BIS, and in direct contradiction to our Internet rules. How could we possibly OK usage like this, when other services are charging for exactly the same thing? And world-wide, at that. If they had limited this to Dutch IP addresses, it would have been better.

Well, that was streaming, not downloading, but anyway...
The SACD is out and has been for almost a month. BIS-SACD-1858.
