Hi, Working on a broken Xindak SCD-2 that needs a new transport mechanism.
Anyone know what model Sony player it's based on, or even the part number for a new transport?
TIA

You may need to contact Xindac direct, as a the compiled list of players and transport, that can easily be found in a google search, does not list the transport unit for your player.

Tried that, their website was dead last time I looked, but it seems to be up now.

Todd, You can try posting the initial question on www.diyaudio.com, digital source forum, if you haven't already. Someone there might have an answer.

Todd, Here's a link that has what you need.
http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-SACD-KHM-234ASAA-234AAA-JungSon-Xindak-/350417019703?pt=DVD_Players_Recorders&hash=item51967b6337
Transport unit is KHM234AAA.
I have never bought from this Taiwan place, so have no experience as to quality of parts purchased there. But now that you have part number you can do google search and find out if this part is available elsewhere.

Wow guys, thanks for the info.
Actually, this one will play fine....once you get the tray to close. The issue is it won't close all the way, but if you help it close, on a rare occasion the disc will load & play. Most of the time it clunks & clicks, then spits the disc back out, usually only halfway.
My feeling is something in mechanism of gears that closes the tray and brings the laser sled into position is jammed, slipping or broken.

Todd, The way these things are designed, the tray has to fully close in order for the transport unit to come to the specified height, clamp the disc, and so on and so forth. It sounds like you have a slight misalignment inside from "something". You could probably get it fixed at any repair shop that works on cd players, and it would not be very expensive to do so.

HI everyone, Well, the Xindak repair is on going. I got the drawer working, and replaced the drive, but in the process I think I damaged the ribbon cable that connects to the laser assembly to the circuit board.
I've been looking for a replacement, can anyone help?
On the cable it says: E228339 AWM 20798 80C 60V VW-1 25 pins 26mm (1-1/16) wide 82mm (3-1/4) long 1mm pitch
