Does anyone believe there's a need to replace the power cord for the U.S. player?

Most manufacturers of higher end equipment recommend that the supplied power cord be replaced by an audiophile grade one......Even the cheaper Oppos benefit from replacing that two pronged do-hicky with a better one....instant upgrade. If you want a scientific explanation, sorry.....let your ears decide and you don't have to spend big bucks, IMO. And if we could all afford generators that ran at a constant voltage we wouldn't be dependent on the dredge that comes through our outlets (especially in and around large cities). That upgrade would be major but mighty expensive.

When I buy fuel for my diesel powered SUV I always use the truck pumps with faster flow, 80 liters/minute (normal car pumps give only 50). This markedly improves the performance of the vehicle, smoother ride and gives better acceleration. Do not ask for scientific explanation, I just can feel it, everybody can!

If you cared about acceleration or performance or the environment (cancer causing nano-particulate matter), you wouldn't use a diesel in the first place ... or a SUV for that matter.

Indeed. And if one cared about the environment, one wouldn't replace a perfectly good power cable with a different one.

Yes agreed but how many manufacturers supply PERFECTLY GOOD power cable rather than just adequate ones. Its down to cost and visuals normally. They know that the very few serious listener will consider the implications of RFI ,diodic effects etc etc and replace it with a better one.
Of course the inferior one could be reused somewhere else but had you considered that?.

There are many threads with info about players having problems to play the SACD layer in this forum.
Krell is not the only brand that has this issue. Specially early versions of Sony SACD players are known to have problem with the SACD layer. Sometimes it helps recalibrate or replace the optical pick-up, sometimes it doesn't help indicating that the problem lies elsewhere e.g the main board.
The main boards are usually very expansive, so even if Krell would sell them as spare parts, it would probably make sense to buy a new player.

My recommendation would be the XA 5400.

We just installed new ovens in our kitchen, two identical Miele H 5241 BP units, side by side. Of course I had the electrician to replace the original power cord of one of them with Lessloss DFPC signature cord, not telling me which one. After all it was only about 30% extra in the total cost. After cooking several meals, including roast, cookies and salmon, not to mention national specialty "pulla" and Carelian pastries, I could easily tell which oven has the DFPC signature power cord. There is more depth in the taste, the pastries are crispier and the Norwegian salmon has the true feel of the clear arctic oceans. Scientific explanation? Who cares, everybody who eats can taste the difference instantly!

I gather that its normal protocol in All the Asylums you have been in or sent to.Just dont concern yourself about it as its totally irrelevant.
PS. Are both the white coats the same colour?.Either of them named Krell or from the planet Krell.

Yes it is true that many early generation Sony sacd players, and those using Sony transports, had problems with lasers and transports. However the issue with the Krell player was that it used the Philips transport with the chip failure issue, where the replacement chips were about 50% faulty, so the whole thing was discontinued by Philips.
Once a player goes out of production, spare parts like main boards, are usually in short supply, if there are any at all.
