Back in the midst of 2009 (August 22nd to be exact)I ordered a copy of Retrospective by Rebecca Pidgeon on Chesky from Amazon Canada. I must add that this was the only copy I could find on the net at the time that seemed to be readily available and reasonably priced. I duly ordered it and waited and waited and waited, after a while came the usual email "we reget that this item is currently out of stock" etc. I decided to not to cancel and leave it as an open order. Periodically I would get further emails from Amazon asking me if I wanted to cancel or not I left it open and then eventually forgot all about it. Imagine my suprise when I checked my bank account and found a debit from Amazon Canada at the end of March 2010. Two days later the SACD was delivered by courier (which I had not specified on cost ground)!!! no extra charge. Point is has the disc been reissued? Is this old stock which has been found lurking in the warehouse. Whatever all praise to amazon for finding me a copy even if it is 7 months after orginal order date. Anybody else had a similar experience perhaps persistance pays off.

For future reference, I believe Chesky Records stocks a complete inventory of all their SACDs including hard to find out of print items like their version of The Planets. They are, of course, list price {19.98 each} plus shipping and through April 30th, they are offering a 20% discount for ordering two or more items using the promo code: Chesky20. A similar experience to yours, I ordered 2 CD/DVD bookshelf holders from Deep Discount sometime last year and they were always on back~order. Yesterday, I received a call from someone at Deep Discount saying they were able to locate some from their vendor and would I still be interested. I suppose the most important element of ordering online is service and I believe you and I have received that from our respective vendors.

I think that this sort of thing is amazing! I've just about given up on the concept of service, and what you both have reported has made my heart go pitter-pat! That's great!

I had an exactly similar experience with Amazon.ca with one of the rare Philips Brendel recitals, that also turned up out of the blue after about that period of time.

What a feeling 'though! Wow!

On April 2nd, a day late for poisson d'Avril, I got a note from CD Universe: "We thought that you would like to know that the following release is now available for ordering Vorisek: Chamber Music - Kocian Quartet/Ivan Klansky" -- three years, six months and eight days after I had expressed an interest. --And for more than twice the amazon.com price!

CD Universe has been my preferred vendor on many occasions, but not on this one; I see from my records that I ordered this from Caiman on Oct. 25, 2006 and received it twelve days later. Lovely music!
