SACD version of this album used be out of print for a while, but now a number of amazon 3rd party sellers are starting to have it in stock, at very reasonable price. I wonder if Sony is doing another round of SACD pressings - re-testing the market so to say. Not much harm in dreaming right? Very charming performance in decent SACD sound by the way.

Their prices drop according to Amazon's prices. Over the past few days, Amazon has gotten a few copies of it in. It was $39 yesterday from 3rd party and Amazon had a new copy in this morning, which I was fortunate to pick up. 3rd parties adjusted their prices down accordingly.

If that was the case, they would probably opt for a more noticeable album, and for a hybrid disc.

I just bought this for $50--not exactly reasonable, but not total highway robbery, either! I'd say it worth it: Perahia's interpretation is wonderful, and I never knew that Sony was capable of such excellent piano sound. A pity it isn't m-ch, though.

Sony's series with Volodos is excellent, too.

Schubert: Piano Sonatas - Volodos

Volodos Plays Liszt

Volodos in Vienna

Now that Sony is back (in black) maybe...just maybe we will get some more SACDs from them.

Yeah, I have those. The Liszt lacks clarity as I recall, but it's been a while since I listened to it.
