Hi, I am new to the SA-CD community and just saying hi to you all.

I have a question that maybe someone in here can answer???

I have only a handfull of SACD releases and I have just bought the Diana Krall, "When I Look In Your Eyes" sacd. On the underside of the disk is printed "playstation 2". I have never seen this on a sacd and am wondering if this is a fake disk???

Thanks for your time.

WELCOME ROB,
Nice to have you on this Site and listen SACD Hi-Resolution music......It is know that the PlayStation-1 can read SACD discs, and some people use it for listen SACDs indeed.
I buy SACDs since 1999/2000 but no one of my discs or booklets have this mark or label. In true Iam not expert on games consoles or CD/SACD Hardware, there is various users
in this Site that are experts in this subject, and I will let they put more light in this mystery for you. To me this is a new mark they are puting on the SACD discs to alert the games users.
Best Regards, Gustavo

Maybe it was a promo disc which accompanied the player and not knowing what to do with it and/or not being a Diana Krall Fan maybe he traded it in and you become the recipient.

Do you have a SACD player apart from your games console?. If you have or know someone who has one and can play it for you. Most sacd players will I think display somewhere in the electronic display that an SACD disc is in fact being played. If the disc is a hybrid one it usually will have a slight goldish tinge to it. The only console that I am aware of that can play an SACD as an SACD (and not the CD layer) are the earlier generations of the PS3. Never heard of SACD replay on A PS2.

Yeah, I don’t even have any playstation consoles, just my Yamaha sacd player. I bought the disk on Amazon used, so anything goes :). I will try playing the disk tonight; I have not had the time to play it yet. I will post my findings. Thanks for the help.

So I put it in and gave it a run to see if this disk would work and NOT to my superize, it didn't! So in the future, playstation disks do not sub as SACD disk. If anyone knows otherwise, please let me know.

In the early years of PS2, Sony put a "compatible with PlayStation2" message on all Columbia/TriStar DVDs. I've uggested earlier they should have done the same with SACDs in the early days of PS3 but that's too late now.

Anyway, I own a copy of Diana Krall: When I Look In Your Eyes and I've checked it but I can find no mention of PlayStation on disc, casing, booklet or sticker. Not even of PSP, even though that would be somewhat appropriate.

I put this disk in my computer to see what it would do and it had some files on it, I guess this was really a playstation 2 game at one time, the file read "midnight club," so I retuned it to the retailer.
