Today I find great intrest in the SACD reviews here on sa-cd.net. What I would like aswell is a review section of SACD players, much like the one for records. When it comes to knowing about SACD I personally don't want to turn to other sites than this one. Are there any more than me who would like it as well, and is it possible to incorporate that idea in this site?
Just an idea...

I've given this quite a bit of thought and it's not really feasible to maintain a database of available players as there's just too many, with different availability, model numbers and features across different geographic regions. There's nothing to stop anybody writing a review of their player(s) here on this forum, including pictures etc. Probably the most useful reviews are comparative ones, namely comparing two (or more) players against each other to highlight presentation differences ... this on a fairly transparent system and using good source material. The other approach is a consensus one, namely if most people are very satisfied with a particular player, there's a good chance you will be as well. I must admit to being somewhat ambivalent about owner equipment reviews.

I understand what you say, but rather a non-perfect review system over a non-existing. It should at least give som overview of the market.

As I said, I'm happy for others to post reviews. I'm not in a position to do these however.

A lofty idea but an utterly subjective one. So many posters allude to the fact that theirs is the best but unless one outlines their entire system including mods, tweaks, speaker/interconnect cables, etc, what may sound fantastic in one system may sound terrible in another....I wish either Absolute Sound or Stereophile would dedicate an entire issue to SACD much like their annual "Vinyl" issues. So many new players have come out in the last year that it's almost impossible to keep track and as Zeus surmised, there are foreign players that will never grace U.S. shores and the inverse is in effect for other countries as well. But it surely would break up the monotony of the DSD/PCM controversy.....ENOUGH!

Off topic, but has incidentally do Zeus prohibited Mr.DeSelby doing reviews? ...He has logged on? His last review was in 9oct2007. His clear, succinct and honest analysis were so ''funny''!! (Really!)

I agree with others on this, It would be very difficult to do,apart from the points raised by Rammiepie above one would have to take into account such things as room furnishings, local ambient noise factors (I live near a city centre). Even if the same player is available worldwide and therefore suitable for review. I can just see some smart A** making the comment that it sounds better in a hot dry climate with a 240v electrical supply as opposed to a cool damp climate with a 110V supply. I would however like to be able to find out what is available locally. I am intrested in the Oppo models but have failed to find anyone locally who is a dealer.
