This is up for preorder from amazon.com, cduniverse, and other sites. It will be interesting to see if it will actually happen.

I wonder why this one is slated for SACD, but not Jarvi's last disc, etc. Will there be any more Telarc SACD's after this? Unlikely, but maybe if we all buy this one, there will be hope:)

With all due respect, but that is a rather odd comment.

So you'd rather recommend all of us to run and buy an SACD from a company that may or may not be continuing releasing SACD:s than actually supporting those, who are fully committed (meaning Penta, Channel and ourselves) and really do something, this month and every month.

Funny way of showing loyalty.

I didn't understand the logic either. Even if Telarc ceases to exist as such or transforms into some other Phoenix created by the ex-Telarc people [re: Philips - Polyhymnia] as has has been mooted on here already, we still have a legacy on SACD of some of the finest high resolution digital recordings ever released on disc and people should be grateful for that.

But as 'bissie' notes there is still plenty of life in the other old dogs yet whether you are a Mch or Stereo DSD sort of guy. It's a (multi?) bit early to start wearing black armbands

I will buy this disc dutifully as indeed I will continue to buy any new SACD worth it's salt from all the other determined labels, including dear old BIS despite their slight sin of omission for their two channel devotees. I do not have favourite recording companies as such. For sure, just like 'DSD' I get 'hung up' on the DSD/PCM thingy but that is only because I long for the absolute best available sound quality from my high end two-channel playback system.

Having tasted the fruit as it were...

Neurotic? Moi? Peut etre! But EXCELLENCE SHOULD NOT BE AN OCCASIONAL GOAL; one can but hope that all the recording guys and gals on here will accept this vital challenge.

DSD rules for now... who knows what lies in the future?

I buy plenty of discs from the "committed" companies. I'm just thinking that Concod can be influenced by current sales. I see no downside to more Telarc SACDs

When the "collapse" of Concord happened about three months ago, I am sure I read then that Concord had stated that Telarc would no longer be issuing recordings in their name. That I took to mean the end of the label and the recent releases just a clearing out of what was in the pipeline. I also emailed them and asked whether their Gorecki and Shostakovich recordings were to be SACD's and if so I would be buying them .There was no reply. They are finished as far as I am concerned and as Bissie says, I think it is better to support those who support SACD rather than those who don't.

Two reviews:

Reading between the lines this is implicitly a DSD recording as usual for Telarc. As their last disc it would have been strange indeed to acquire new A/D convertors to revert to PCM recording for a one-off. Perhaps the DSD A/D convertors could be donated to Robert at BIS?

Now that really is a good idea!

Does anyone know if this SACD has a multichannel track?

Yes it does. It's a 5.1 mix.

Thanks, Tom. Now I will put that disk at the top of my wish list.
