I hope Sony, in its infinite wisdom, will get someone good to finish the multi-channel mix of "Thriller" and release it on SACD. For those who don't know, Michael Jackson was working on the multi-channel surround mixes for an eventual SACD release when Sony pulled the plug.

Thanks for the great music, Michael. RIP

I assume it is since it was released in April of 2000 (still available at CDJapan for [US] $36.

According to CNN, Thriller has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. What artist in recent memory has sold that many albums? I think the 10th anniversary of SACD and the death of a superlative talent should get the sacd m/c treatment for all his musical journies.....

I think the total number should be closer to 60 million copies worldwide. 100 million copies for one single album seems very unlikely. It's still the biggest selling album in the world....ever.

Correct. See http://mixonline.com/mag/audio_mick_guzauski/

Perhaps it will not be a matter of infinite wisdom but simply of the artist no longer being able to veto the release.

Bring it on, please! I'll buy it right away, and I expect many others will too.

So will I but I guess like most 'must have' discs of the moment, it'll get played twice and then lie forgotten at the back of a drawer.

For those interested in hearing Thriller in multichannel, have you ever tried pushing the SACD through DPLII on your receiver or player? To my surprise, it sounds pretty nice and I typically now listen to it this way. I've been cranking the SACD along with the 5-disc Ultimate Collection since Thursday in tribute.

RIP Michael and may God bless your family immensely.

Dan
