Well let's try this feature :-)...Anyone out there that agrees with me about my conclusion that the Police remasters are nothing more than good remasters and don't take advantage of the sonic benefits that the SACD format has to offer?

I'm not convinced the masters are that great - in fact I bet that the later ones were recorded on primitive digital technology.
If I'm pushed I would say that they all sound better on vinyl but don't really know why.

It is easy to forget that not every recording was of 'audiophile' quality to begin with. Looking back now, The Police would be an obvious choice for a record label to assign their best studio, equipment, engineers, and producer, but that's no guarantee that things were handled that way at the time. Modern audiophile remastering equipment and techniques can only do so much against a master tape which may have been flawed to begin with or mishandled in the decades since it was laid down.

FYI, this release has been re-printed and is now available again at normal price. I got mine at 4.99£ on amazon.co.uk (not a third part seller, Amazon themselves, but the offer stopped).
This is realy a new print and not little bits of old stocks found somewhere because it's a digipack, and I think the first release was in small hinged jewel box.
This is good news if they re-print some OOP SACDs ! I think it's the case with Zenyatta Mondatta too !
Enjoy ! :)
