What an eclectic mix of new releases. Besides Nat King Cole, Humble Pie's "Smoking" a Turnadot classic et alia. It is encouraging that Analogue Productions is amping up some popular titles, especially from the way underrepresented Capitol catalog. Let's hope that Peggy Lee and Nancy Wilson (including her exceptional and well-recorded "Lush Life") also on the Capitol Label, will be possibilities in the future for SACD release. The "Hot Spot" soundtrack issued on the Verve Label in 1990 showcases Miles Davis, John Lee Hooker and Taj Mahal; Moussorgsky's The Power of the Orchestra is a long out of print and very rare Living Stereo release and Humble Pie's Smoking from 1972 is one of their best and never had a proper US release on CD... (the Japanese remaster is superior). Something for everyone in this latest batch of Analogue Production's Lp/SACD remaster program.

Nat Cole was one of the best ever....and his music definitely deserves to be on the best physical medium.

this is good news, though I expect the running time of each release will be pretty short. Will be interested in the track listings which hopefully will be posted soon.

Does anyone know whether these are MC or stereo only?

Any more information about "The Power of the Orchestra"? Was it recorded by Decca for Living Stereo?

I am assuming that ALL releases will be in stereo, only, as is Analogue Production's desire to release in their original versions. Also, the Nat King Cole Story was released on 3 lps and 3 cds so I imagine that this particular release will be comprised of 3 SACDs (hopefully not priced @ $90 (US).)

Posted by Steve Hoffman himself on his own forum....

So, we've done the following for SACD three channel/two channel hybrids and 45 RPM vinyl:

1956, After Midnight (mono with 6 bonus tracks)
1956, Love Is The Thing (with complete original "Closed miked" mono mixes as bonus tracks on the SACD version)
1957, Just One Of Those Things (with YOU'LL NEVER KNOW bonus track)
1958, Songs From "St. Louis Blues"
1958, The Very Thought Of You (with bonus tracks DON'T BLAME ME, THERE IS NO GREATER LOVE)
1962, Where Did Everyone Go? (with bonus tracks HAPPY NEW YEAR and A FAREWELL TO ARMS)
1961, The Nat "King" Cole Story, three-volume set (36 songs with bonus tracks RAMBLIN' ROSE and THOSE LAZY-CRAZY-HAZY DAYS OF SUMMER, making 38 songs in all)

Surprise, surprise. Quoted from Steve Hoffman himself: "We are doing three-channel surround SACD's with a two-channel and CD layer plus some extra-special 45 RPM 180 gram vinyl. So you will be able to hear Nat coming out of your center channel (on the three-channel SACD layer) and nicely balanced on your CD and SACD two channel layers and then on the uniquely mixed vinyl versions. Get an SACD player."
