I own about thirty SACDs and this is one of my favorites. Unusual, because I am just getting familiar with jazz. This sampler has such a wide variety of everything from Rosemary Clooney to Tito Puente. The Artists are really special because with such a limited backround, most of them are familialr to me. I find the music bright, enjoyable, and varied. Sonically, I am only listening to the cd because my SACD player is out for mods and I have to tell you that the sound is amazing. That some of these are older and cd only just floors me. They sound great. I can't wait to hear them in SACD. I am a neophyte to SACD but I think this is a great selection and give it my highest recommendation with the caveat that I have not heard the SACD yet. Its hard to immagine that it will not be good.

I find the Concord titles to be very well done. Good performances and sonics.

I hate to say it, but I stocked up on all things TELARC last year when SACDs were all priced at $13.98 and received an additional 10% off + free shipping. You did get a great deal.....did you double click?

I stocked up last year, too. After yesterday's purchase, I'm pretty much done with Telarc unless they release more SACDs. I don't think I double clicked, but, may have.

Douglas Adams would call this type of jazz "mostly harmless" :-)
Unfortunately that's the case of so many jazz recordings released on audiophile formats.

I can see that, but since I'm new to Jazz and SACD, I feel like a kid in a candy store and a fifty dollar bill. My wife who has much more musical experience than I has a similar nonplussed opinion about these recordings. Thankfully I can still enjoy.

Claude, stop being such a snob. The fantasy label had some choice titles (Coltrane, Miles, Bill Evans, Nat and Cannonball Adderley, etc) and although they weren't Groove Note/MoFi quality, with a little snake oil and "tweaking.....dampers, etc), they sounded a lot better than the untreated sacds. And the concord associated labels also yielded some unexpected treasures (in surround, no less) although the Groove Note pressings of a few concord titles (in stereo only) did sound noticeably better....no snake oil needed here!
