Dear Audiophiles and MusicLovers,
Today is a great day...
After many years researching speakers I find some truth: >> the best loudspeaker system is a simple Full Range driver in a box or OB, with NO crossover, NO Woofer, NO midrange and NO tweeter. <

So, after the divinal revelation, I began another search for a quality FR that work fine in a OB panel, the only obstacle was the price, a very real barrier, a French PHY-HP for 950 Euros each or a German
AER MD3B for 3K Euros pair, and below this price level there is a lot of good FR of low prices but, with not enough bass dB level, that need a SW to bass reinforcement, a heresy for my purist purpose.
The AER are so expensive that appeared a almost identical speaker of a rival competidor who sell for lower price.

But this weekend I find a very good FR at http://www.commonsenseaudio.com/ that work fine as OB, BassReflex or in a big Sealed box, have good bass level, and came in various sizes,
from 6,5 to 15 inches. A good FR cone speaker have a very detailed and natural sound, the hi frequencies spread in the room ( not concentrated as in a small tweeter driver ) and the soundstage is huge.
Good news the prices are low as they are made in China. I prefer the 12 inches for a small LineArray of 4 drivers per channel (Stereo of course ), but the others small driver are good too, not for OB, but
for a boxed loudspeaker, there is a 8 inches with a Alnico magnet for a celestial sound.

I recommend the 12 inches model ( SUPER12-CASTFRAME ) for Hi-End applications and the 15 inches model ( SUPER15-CASTFRAME ) if you love bass frequencies, also the SUPER15 is a great
speaker for E-Guitar, Keyboard, Winds and Vocals ( not in hi SPL applications but in quality sound ).

Some features :
SUPER12 CASTFRAME: Diam.32cm, Sens. 95,4dB, 30Wrms, Freq.Resp 36hz to 20khz, FS 36Hz, Z 8ohms, QTS 0,488, VAS 251 Lts, XMAX 1mm, Paper Cone, Fabric Surround, Spyder Conex,
......................................Net Weight 3,95kg, Price 248 dollars pair.
SUPER15 CASTFRAME: Diam.38cm, Sens. 95,7dB, 50Wrms, Freq.Resp 22hz to 14khz, FS 27Hz, Z 8ohms, QTS 0,483, VAS 618 Lts (wow), XMAX 1mm, Paper Cone, Fabric Surround, Spyder Conex,
......................................Net Weight 7,95kg, Price 398 dollars pair.

This FR drivers are unique in the world in this size (12'' + 15'') with this low price, and by the tech chart they are very good, both for musical instruments and for Hi-End ( are better yet).
I have waiting and looking a product like this many years (since 2003), they are a rare item in the sector of FR Audiophiles, who quite often like tube amps, a FR like this 12'' or 15'' and
a small tube amp are the perfect pair to the audio happiness. Seems they will sell alot of these beauties for small amps users, and to big amps is just use various drivers per box.

Today...is...a...great...day...
Best wishes everybody, Full

P.S.: Now the only Nominal Impedance avaliable is 8 ohms, I think must be a option of 4 ohms for users like Serial Connection and 16 ohms to users that like Parallel connection ( my case).

Bet the 6.5's would work well in my Impulse speakers....even with a crossover and tweeter.

Before anyone of you buy this drivers I have to inform you about this drivers dB level.
Analyzing the Freq.Response graph of the best driver of this brand, the SUPER12CF see clearly that the treble from 1800Hz on, are many sharp, about 10dB above
the Bass and MidBass, the other models have this problem too.
So this Nirvana serie of FullRanges are little recommended for OB, and much recommended for Sealed Box and BassReflex, where is possible made a correction of
this problem by placing internal stuffing inside the box.
Regards, Full

Funny, I found some "truth" years ago: a constant-directivity compression horn (Lambda Unity) with 15" mid-basses. Seems my "truth" is different from your "truth".

Dear Paul:
Yes, it is. I do not like horns as I can not build one huge for me, they are hard to desing and built.
The Horns had some evolution in the 90 years with the hybrid horns with Gel and plastics, than the news horns nomore have the duck voice of the past.

Thankyou Fullrangeman, maybe this 15'' full range for me, my pro 12'' FR OB has a too small bass.
I could replace my pro 12'' full range by this 15'' which has a larger cone, then have more bass and is more refined than a pro speaker, the price isn't expensive for a hi fi product.
Great find, thanks,
Alan

Be careful, these NIRVANAs are low price drivers made in China and are not refined as the French PHY-HP or the Germany AER, this both are hand made by artisans in small quantities.
But the 15'' may be interesting because the high price of such famous brands really prevent most Audiophiles can enjoy the wonder that is a big cone Full Range driver without crossover or tweeter etc...
