I've heard this morning that the Sony XA5400ES is NO MORE, as Monty Python would have said. Production has ended already. I can't believe it, so soon after launch? Can anyone shed any light at all? Victim of the credit crunch? Technical problems?

What is going on? I was trying to buy one.

For what it's worth, http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCatalog?storeId=10151&langId=-1&catalogId=10551&in_dim_search=&keyword=SCD-XA5400ES&gobutton.x=4&gobutton.y=7, lists the player as "in stock" with an estimated ship date of 4/6/09, but the www.sony.co.uk does not.

Perhaps they're finally coming with a BD/DVD/SACD player in the ES series? Still, I wouldn't expect such a product to arrive before August. The current BD and SACD separates were announced at IFA.

Wow. Just got mine today... That kind of sucks, I was hoping this player was just ramping up...

Missed out on the XA9000ES, and was glad when they came out with this one...

I asked if it was discontinued and the immediate response was "I don’t think this is accurate, but we’re checking and I’ll let you know by Monday."

So, let's not get so excited until we know.

From UK Sony. I have a pal in the trade trying to track one down for me and he was fed this on Friday evening just before close of play. Several on-line retailers claim to have them in stock but in fact do not when pushed 'to get one in the post tonight'
