Agreed. I made an attempt to purchase Daphnis and almost went to the point of confirming my order - until I saw the shipping rate (only for US deliveries by the way). Too bad, this seems to be a brilliant recording, but I won't purchase it so long as I have to add half the price for shipping.

CSO Resound also has crippling postage charges. I shall be patient and buy through an Amazon seller, hoping Caiman will get stocks.

Hi,
I see by your posts that you are still having problems ordering online. I am terribly sorry for the frustration. One of the servers which powers our website was having hardware problems yesterday. I do not like offering these excuses, but it seems that over the last week, we have seen a number of issues on our website which have not occurred prior to the release of these albums. We typically have a very easy and fast checkout process. So much so, that we have done quite a bit of business through our site over the last 8 years. That has been the case, except up until a week or so ago. Please know that we are working to fix the problem. If you would prefer to call to place an order, you can do so at 888-266-1200. This is a toll-free number if you are in the US.

To help me better understand the problem, if you could tell me a few pieces of information, it would help me better diagnose hardware problems vs software problems. I don't need names, just the following:

- Time you attempted to place an order (if you can be fairly precise this will help a lot).
- Are you using a Mac or a PC?
- What browser are you using? What version if you know it?
- Where you attempting to buy anything other than a CD?

Thank you. I really appreciate your patience.

Dear Rich

Are these discs going to be made available to other sellers than the BSO?

Regards

PN

We are currently working to get these distributed in the US. I have no specifics though at this time.

Success! I used Firefox 3.0.7 to place my order and received a confirming email almost immediately. Hope it was worth the effort.

But not beyond the US?

This must surely be one of the least sensuous and most straightforward of interpretations ever of this piece. The lack of rubati is ruining it of much of its beauty. Great playing and singing, but the conducting is far too unimaginative. A pity.

My initial reaction to this is slight disappointment - the rear channels are used very little indeed, and I get little sense of hall space and the music expanding around me.

It seems hitched to the front speakers in a way which makes the performance seem slightly constricted and lacking in the necessary refulgence.

I'll listen again, to see if this impression persists.

I play this piece with the rear channels raised 4dB. 6dB would be even better. Despite this balance issue, and a slight additional warmth than the original performance that I listened to while it was being recorded, it is one of the most dynamic and realistic SA-CD's I've experienced. Highly recommended.

Just as one is released, CSO Resound (for release in May) come back with DeC with Poulenc's Gloria (Haitink conducting)...
