I was not aware that the 2007 releases are just hybrid re-releases of the earlier versions.

Actually the 2007 hybrids. which I have, are sourced from 2006 DSD re-masters so they are not all just reissues of earlier Japanese SACD releases.
I can not say if they are better than the earlier SACD releases but you would expect so.
Also, the "Someday My Prince Will Come" hybrid only contains the original Lp tracks,

"Round About Midnight" hybrid is mono,
and the "Kind of Blue" hybrid contains a multichannel s/track.

You are indeed correct. There is nothing (at least in English) on the cover or insert to indicate this but after checking cdjapan, they are listed as remasters. Good to know. I do think the original releases sound good but would be curious to hear a comparison now.

Has anyone heard the earlier ones and the new ones? Any improvement?

I bought 'Kind of Blue' and it's definitely better than the original US release, which is softer sounding and not quite as detailed by comparison. I also bought Round About Midnight, but it is my first so I don't know how it compares to other release but it sounds very good.

BTW, HMV Japan is currently having a 20% off sale on all the latest SACD masterings of the Columbia Jazz catalog. The current exchange rates are pretty good too. I just placed an additional order for Bitches Brew, In A Silent Way and Herbie Hancock Head Hunters. The 2 disc Bitches Brew is only about US $30 and the single disc titles are only about $20 with the discount. Best prices by far that I've ever seen.

According to CDJapan, the 2007 hybrid Miles Davis remasters were taken from the cardboard sleeve 2006 remasters of the Miles Davis catalog. Perhaps the 2006 cds were DSD remastered.

Yes they were, and originally released as DSD CDs I believe.

They were having another sale so I picked up Milestones, Sketches of Spain and Someday my Prince will come. I have the original 1999 version of Sketches of Spain and this new mastering is far better. I suspect they were done using a newer, state of the art DSD A/D converter - perhaps Sony's latest design? They really sound great.

I highly recommend this whole latest set of japanese re-issues. They really are worth the premium prices, IMO.

I'd like to see all the legacy Columbia jazz albums get the same treatment, especially the Brubeck recordings Brubeck Time, Time Out and Time Further Out.

Actually, the first SACD release states "Stereo" on the cover, disc and slipcase, and the disc even uses the "360° sound" stereo LP label design, but the recordings (made in 1955 and 1956) are mono.
