If all you want is Kal's column, you can read it online, as I do.

Saves lots of trees, too.

True but it's often old news by then. For example, my next deadline is 12/15/08 for the column that will appear in the March 2009 issue. Posting of that column is usually about 60 days after the print edition hits the streets.

If you want to save trees, subscribe to the electronic edition. :-)

...I hope that Stereophile will stop the SACD hate for a moment and will at least release in January or February 2009 an SACD dedicated issue. It would be nice they celebrated SACD 10th year anniversary that way...

Articles worth considering in Stereophile SA-CD special issue are IMHO:
- review of first Mark Levinson Super Audio CD player (No.512)
- review of new SA-CD player from Luxman (D-08)
- review of new Denon SA-CD player (DCD-SX)
- SACD record labels presentations (BIS, Pentatone, Channel Classics, Harmonia Mundi etc)
- Interview with Steve Hoffman on his project of releasing 50 Blue Note and 25 Impulse SACDs
- interview with Esoteric's president and his plans on next DECCA DSD reissues
- SACD's to die for (top 100 recommended SACD's)
- reviews of current SACD releases
- Stereophile recommended SACD players in different price ranges $500-1000, $1000-1500, 1500-3000$, over $3000
- recommended reference SACD setup for stereo and multichannel audio (SACD player, amp, speakers)

It's nice here but we are talking to ourselves. If you want someone at Stereophile to hear you, you should post this on their website or email it to the editor.

FWIW, the January and February issues are already done. I am now finishing my March contribution.

Kal,

so you're basically saying there's no SACD special issue in January, February and even March?! Damn, the SACD format survived for 10 years, this is hell of an achievement if you ask me, audiophile format stays with us for 10 years and audiophile magazine simply ignores it?!!

PS I've just received e-mail from stereophile/zinio enticing me to renew my subscription for next year, but I think they don't leave me any choice but to not renew it :(

If they are doing such, I have not been apprised of it.

I do not mean to berate you about it but do you express these views to JA at Stereophile? I do, at almost every opportunity.

Kal: You column was the only thing I enjoyed in Stereophile in the two years I subscribed to it. I also voted last month. I did not renew my subscription. I vote by putting my money where my interest lies. And I purchase a lot of multichannel hi rez albums. You can tell JA his magazine wasn't worth the $18 subscription fee. He can live in the past; but not with my support.

I'm in the same boat as ct. I was a long time reader for the past 25 years or so but gave up a few years ago. Apart from your column, Kal, there was little to interest me. Now I check it out before I buy and so it's now just a few issues a year. I got November's issue to check out your column and the Cary SACD review.
I am happy to communicate this to the editor but doubt it will have any effect.

Again, please, don't tell me to tell him. Send him an email stating the above. It will carry more weight than as a re-telling from me.

I agree with you about Stereophile, with one exception. The holiday re-subscription rate is $12.00. It's worth that much just for Kal's column.
