I would especially like to thank Geo for his review and detailed informatuon.Ive had this disc for a few weeks and was taken aback at many of the New things I heard on both these works. Even though it seems a traditional but great version of piano Cto3.
The explanations go a long way to satisfying my curiousity as to how original this disc is.Having had a couple of versions of the violin concerto this was a total step up from mere transcription. It also filled a big gap in my sacd library.I doubt if it ever going to have any competition.

Mr. Miller,

I wonder if you would explain what led you to purchase this disc in light of your February report on a Mustonon performance of the 3rd which was quite negative. Does the disc present a substantially different performance than the one you heard in concert or has your view of Mustonen's approach simply changed over time? I remembered this post and was surprised by your current review. Other reviews I've read of this performance have been somewhere between negative and scathing and between those and your previous post I've passed on this disc, so I'd appreciate the clarification. If you've had the opportunity to hear the first disc in the Brautigam series on BIS could you compare the two 3rds (I love the Brautigam)? Thank you.

Robert,

As indicated above I loved the first disc in the Brautigam series. Is there a tentative schedule for future releases, especially the transcription of the violin concerto? By the way, congratulations on the extension of Mr. Sudbin's contract. I will anxiously await his Beethoven as well as the original version Rach 4 and Medtner recording. There's much more I could add but I'd better stop before I'm guilty of hijacking this thread.

The even bigger question is will your forthcoming Sibelius SACD "Killer" disc ever have any competition. Also will it be spinning on the publis sacd players by your next happy birthday.? Im looking forward to that May 2009 release you listed above, provided no one else issues a version before that.
